Korean Restaurant – NCCU

8 Dec

My favorite restaurant near NCCU. Well, i don’t know anybody around here who doesn’t like this restaurant. It’s always crowded. I haven’t reviewed it yet because i forgot to bring my camera the last 2 times. I love it, but the 3 times i went there i ended up sick because i always eat too much…Because yeah, you have free refill in rice, tea, soup, and they give you also one pickle per person. With that i always take some kimchi -cabbage marinated with red hot chili pepper- (of course!). Then i took some bibimpab (rice with egg, meat and veggies) to compare with the one i had in France, and 2 times i took Jjajangmuyn (noodles with black sauce), my favorite Korean dish. I’m a Jjajangmyun lover, which make laugh the owner (a Korean guy). I always ask the name of the dish in Korean because i can’t recognize it in Chinese. The first time i went there, he gave me a yogourt and Coca Cola for free, and 2 pickles. The second time, he explained me how i should put the spicy sauce in the bibimpab and not eat it plainly. He also taught me a few words in Korean (like it’s good/or not) since he saw that i liked Korea. Then today, when i took Jjajangmyun again, as he saw last time that i had troubles to mix the noodles, he did it for me. He’s really nice and i love the place, but as i say, i’m always sick after (coz 3 bowls of rice, one big bowl of Jjajangmyun, pickles, soup and kimchi, that’s a lot…). Count 100TWD for Jjajangmyun and kimchi, or 120TWD for bibimpab.

Shanghai Rose Biscuit

8 Dec

I was offered a Rose biscuit from Shanghai, so i tried it. It’s between a “sablé” and a nougat. Really sweet and the rose taste isn’t too strong, which is quite good because i think that rose can easily be disgusting if it’s too strong. It seems that Chinese and Taiwanese typical pastries are either crumbly or “feuilleté” (i don’t know the proper translation).

La Caja de Musica

A Spanish friend wanted to eat Spanish, so we went to a Spanish restaurant (nooo incredible, isn’t it?). The owners are two Spanish guys that also play music (well, with the name of the restaurant, you can expect it) and give concert or organise concerts on Fridays. Our Spanish friend chose some typical dishes, like  tortillas, paella and other that i can’t remember. It was realy nice to eat paella, and the tortilla was just delicious. The olives were not strong enough and with too much oil according to me, and there was a too much sauce on the dishes, but it was really nice to be able to eat western food.

And we were quite lucky because some Taiwanese customers were also musicians, and just like that they started to play with their instruments, so the Spanish guys also took their guitars and started an inprovised show. They didn’t know each other, but the overall was quite nice, a mix between Spanish music and Taiwanese! That’s how you can see that is an universal language.

We divided everything into 7 and we payed 414TWD each, so that’s not that cheap, but actually it is compared to other Spanish restaurants in the city.

Movenpick

Swiss Ice-cream. A Swiss friend told me they were really good, and that’s no joke! Why eat ice-cream in winter? Well, i was in marcel and skirt, and i was too hot, even if it was 10pm. Yeah, we don’t have winter here (actually it depends on the day, and the hours), so you can enjoy ice-cream all year long!

I chose a 2 scoops one with coffee and white chocolate. You really have a strong coffee taste like i miss so much here. Delicious. While the white chocolate one is sweet, maybe a little too sweet for me, but i loved the fact that you really eat white chocolate (there’re small pieces in the ice-cream). And then, to go i took a tiramisu ice-cream which was nice but didn’t taste coffee as much as i would have liked. It was more like a cream. Even though it didn’t taste like tiramisu, it was nice.

I think Movenpick is going to be my favorite ice-cream brand here. But i also love Taiwanese shaved-ice with fresh fruits, so…

Count 130TWD for 1 scoop, 190TWD for 2 scoops and 135TWD for a small pack.
